Christopher Fabian is responsible, along with with Erica Kochi, for determining the creative direction of the Innovations team, a group of developers, writers and designers at UNICEF. Specializing in the confluence of media, education, and communication, Christopher has been with UNICEF since 2006.

One of the team’s main areas of exploration is how locally existing technology (radio, mobile phone, etc.) and open-source technology can help people communicate better, have more access to information. These strategies can help UNICEF achieve its goals more effectively and position the organization as a thought leader for innovation.

Christopher was born in New York City, and studied philosophy at the American University in Cairo, and philosophy of literature at Trinity College, Dublin. Prior to joining UNICEF in 2005 he founded media, entertainment and online information companies in Tanzania and Egypt, taught Philosophy and Literature in Lebanon and worked as a freelance photojournalist in the Arab world.
