Members of the Open Mobile Consortium are driven by a vision of a world in which any organization wishing to use mobile technologies for social change would have access to free, open source, appropriate, high-quality software that could be easily and rapidly adapted to programs needs.
Core principles of the Open Mobile Consortium include:
- Cooperating on open source mobile solution development, system testing, program implementation, and evaluation
- Sharing code, standards, plans, progress, and lessons learned
- Maximizing interoperability and data-sharing capabilities between our technologies
- Promotion of sustainable innovation to increase efficiency, and maximize the impact of mobile technology for social good
- Operating on a spirit of respect for others’ work, ongoing research and innovation and cooperation for not-for-profit goals.
- Not an attempt to fuse all applications together into a single system with a standardized programming language, platform or database, or to render any one participant’s technology obsolete
The Open Mobile Consortium aims to work openly and transparently to drive more effective and efficient humanitarian relief and global development.
