The Open Mobile Consortium is a community of interested field practitioners, mobile technologists, and researchers, led by a Working Group. 

The OMC consisting of leading “hybrid” organizations with mandates to take both their technologies and programs to global scale.

There are three main entities of the Open Mobile Consortium:

1. The OMC Working Group

The OMC Working Group is charged with strategically leading the Open Mobile Consortium. The Working Group includes only the kinds of "hybrid" organizations that are both developing open source mobile solutions and implementing them in the field at a global scale.

Criteria for inclusion in the Working Group are:

  • Must be currently actively developing open source mobile application(s) (with an OSI-approved license)
  • Must be currently active field implementers of said application(s) in multiple locations around the world.
  • Must have demonstrated capacity and interest in advancing the goals of the Open Mobile Consortium.
  • Must be nominated by at least two current OMC Working Group members.

The Working Group accepts no more than four new members per calendar year. 

2. The OMC Technical Group

The OMC Technical Group is an open group that meets regularly to advance a mobile open source technical roadmap. The mailing list for the Technical Group that anyone can join is here.

The Technical Group regularly schedules meetings that you can participate in remotely or in person.

3. The OMC Community Group

The OMC Community Group is organized primarily on its mailing list here. The Community Group is focused on discussion and implementation of open source mobile solutions, feedback to the Technical and Working Group about imlementations of these tools, and discussion of needs for future applications.
